To Kill a Mockingbird

The book To Kill A Mockingbird is very well written and suspenseful well, at least the first five chapters. It takes place in the 1930s in a typical, cute, little neighborhood in Maycomb city. But there is one house in the neighborhood that is particularly perfect The house is owned by a man named Boo(Arthur) Radley, a scary man who never comes out of his house, and stabbed his father with scissors. His house is old and starting to discolor, the grass is even grass, its seen as creepy. A few houses down is where the main characters live, Jem,Scout, Atticus finch, and their house made, Calpurnia.

The narrator of the book is Scout(Jean Louise) Finch. She is around the age of 6-9 in the book but is telling the story as an adult. Scout is a tomboy that seems like she gets offended easily and likes to fight. Jem(Jeremy) Finch, Scouts older brother is around the of 13 who is portrayed as Scouts protector.Their father Atticus Finch is a lawyer and state legislative representative. Calpurnia, the Finch's house made, who is an African American. She helps out in running the house and disciplining the kids, which is odd for an African American to do in this time period. Jems and Scouts friend Dill comes to Maycomb in the summer. Dill lives in Meridian, Mississippi and so far has been seen as not the greatest influence on Jem and Scout.

I am enjoying this book very much. Sometimes its hard to see a picture when reading but it is very clear for me to in this novel. My favorite thing about this book is how the kids are your typical troublemakers, and scout she is no stereotypical girl she is a tomboy who would rather be fighting then cheering. I thought is was a great little change up from most of the proper women back then. Any who in the book the kids are constantly trying to get Boo Radley to come out of his house. Jem,Scout, and Dill have all heard rumors about him before for example, one time Boo was just cutting a newspaper and his walked past and Boo stabbed him, wiped the blood off on his shorts, and went back cutting his paper. I know I would be super curious but I don't think I would want him to come out.

My reading ends with the kids climbing through fences to get to Boo's house and once they reached it they lifted Dill to look in the window, But couldn't see anything. They climb back through the fence and all of a sudden-a gun shot- they raced under the fence Scout and Dill reach the house and realize Jem wasn't there. They found him struggling to get his britches off because they were twisted in the fence. They arrive home with a crowd of people surrounding Boo's house, he said if he sees someone in his cornfield again he'll shoot him for sure. Later that night Jem decides he needed his pants, he sneaks out of the house grabs his pants and oddly enough the pants were folded and all sown up. I wonder who did it?
